Temtem is getting a Pokémon-inspired nuzlocke game mode next year
Temtem will be getting a nuzlocke game mode where monsters will be released from the player’s team once they faint in battle. The game, which is set to be updated throughout 2020 and beyond, will also get player-controlled dojos and new Temtem, according to a roadmap posted by developer Crema.
In addition to the short-term roadmap released in late February, Crema has now also shown off the company’s long-term plans for the monster-collecting MMO. Before you dive into the upcoming announcements, keep in mind that Crema does say this is subject to change, and dates and content may not stay 100 percent accurate.
Firstly that release period – Spring 2021. While that’s still a while away it’s not too far off given the scale of the game being made by the small team here. Accompanying 1.0 release is console ports, cross-play and cross-saves. While those last two features sound amazing the developer does stress that they may run into problems with the console manufacturers when it comes time to implement this. In the short term, the game is getting ranked matchmaking, spectator mode, in-game chat, clubs, houses, and achievements. These are scheduled to roll out between spring 2020 and fall 2020, and will be accompanied by another 50 new Temtem and two new islands in the Archipelago. Looking into the future, Crema would like to add and adjust the massively multiplayer monster hunting game with even more features. But, it did state that these are not set in stone. “During the game’s development cycle, ideas change constantly and stuff we like today we might not like as much tomorrow. So take everything in here not as confirmed facts, but more like the stuff we would like to include in the game,” said Crema.
Finally, let’s talk about Nuzlocke. This method of playing a game was developed by the Pokémon community and is a set of self-imposed rules to make playing Game Freak’s titles more challenging. The core of a Nuzlocke challenge is that when a creature is defeated it is not knocked out but is instead “dead” and can never be used again. There are also other rules about how and where new creatures can be captured.
